I heard this past year that the gospel of John was written last in order of when each gospel account was written.  If you aren’t familiar, there are four books that begin the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  I know that he is mentioned last, but he also wrote the book in the last years of his life when he was imprisoned in Antioch.  He had already been boiled in oil, beaten, abused and he just couldn’t / wouldn’t die. ( I wonder if he thought about that too, when he penned John 21:21). I believe he also wrote this account before he had the Revelation to write the book of Revelation.  However, I digress .  The four gospels were written to tell the “good news” that the Messiah, the one that the Israelites believed was prophesied to come and save the Jewish people from the oppression of the evil kingdom of their day.  That He was here and He was going to rescue and save them, and then to explain how He hadn’t come to save just them, the Jewish people; but to seek and save the whole world- His creation- all people groups, and to pay a debt no human could pay; the penalty for sin, death and grave! and that this Messiah, this savior could pay the penalty, and empower us by his Spirit to live out the way he lived while on Earth.  These accounts in the four gospels were penned by individuals inspired by God but through their world view lens.

John had the advantage of knowing Jesus like a brother on Earth, they were in relationship together.  They talked about their families and their hopes and their dreams as they walked about doing their daily tasks.  Jesus loved him so much that he charged him with the task of taking care of His earthly mother. (When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘here is your mother.’ from that time on this disciple took her into his home.” John 19: 26-27). John would have listened to Mary’s stories that she had ‘pondered in her heart’ (Luke 2:19).  John starts out his account with: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” John 1:14.  He wanted to set up his thesis and the tone of writing.  I imagine him saying to himself “this is big guys, I thought one way my whole life, until the resurrection and until I met with him again in person on the beach! We actually was walking with God the entire time and He had this planned from the beginning and it was always His plan to use us and to invite us on this very adventurous life!”.  Yes, I think that is his vantage point.  The one where he was at the end of his life, reminiscing about all the marvelous things that he was able to participate in, before he really knew what was going on and before he really had His spirit living within in.  The vantage point of just being with him and not in him as he was while writing it.

I’m in a season right now that the only way I can describe it as is magnificent.  I don’t say this to brag or to even sound naïve, but to glorify God!  I have been able to experience the answer to many years of prayers in the last year.  These are generational years of prayers. This is some deep down embedded core beliefs type of prayers/chains/ bondages loosed- in the saving power of Jesus Christ- because of all He did, not me- so that I can’t boast and I can’t keep it to myself either.  It is a glorious experience and my prayer is that the lessons I have learned as an answer to these prayers will be used to assist you. God has shared to me over the last few weeks to months that all of this is for ALL! I am nothing special and if He would do it for me He will do it for you too!

My heart is leading me to share through some journal entries from July of 2021 over the next few weeks.  I don’t know exactly how this will look, but I know it was a life changing time/experience in my healing journey and believe this is a message for such a time as this.

The Hope of the World did not reduce himself to a mere human because He wanted a bunch of rule followers.  He entered into our humanity, just as everyone of us do, helpless and dependent, learned to walk and talk and play.  He learned how to get along with his siblings and he obeyed his parents.  He learned a trade and recited the Law and the Prophets just as any Jewish boy would have done.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52

The Hope of the World reduced himself to a mere human because He wanted a relationship with each of us.  He stepped right in the middle of our mess because He knew it was the only way.  He needed to pay the price for evil because He was the only one who could overcome it. He did that for me and He did that for you!!! Regardless if you believe it or not! If you’re reading this and you’re willing at all to believe it could be true! that you could really live the way the early church followers lived (read the book of Acts).  Communing together, loving each other, excusing each others faults before they ever commit them.  To love your neighbor as you love yourself! Then let’s do this together, I will share where I was at the first part of July 2021 and where I was at the end of July 2021.  I will show you how my mind and my heart changed from a heart of stone into a heart of flesh that is talked about in Jeremiah and Ezekiel.  It will be my pleasure to show you how much God loves and pursues me and I know He simultaneously does it for you!
